What this is for
This glossary explains words you will see while receiving stock, checking items out, and reviewing reports.
Terms
Material Type
The kind of stock you track — for example a specific wire, filament, or spool category. Defined in Settings → Manage Types.
Warehouse
A storage location where inventory items are grouped. Created from the Inventory tab.
Inventory Snapshot
A summary report (admins) showing what Coilinx sees in your inventory right now.
Starting Weight
The weight recorded when a new item is received into inventory.
Starting Length
The length recorded when a new item is received, when your workflow tracks length per spool.
Remaining Length
How much usable length is left on an active item after use or partial consumption.
Remaining Weight
The current weight of an active item, updated when you weigh returns or adjustments.
Used Inventory
Items that are no longer active — consumed, archived, or fully depleted — tracked separately from active stock.
Check Out
Assigning an inventory item to yourself (or recording that it left the shelf) from the Check Out tab or Home.
Return (Weigh In)
Weighing an item when it comes back and updating remaining weight and length in Coilinx.
Scale / Coilinx Scale
The connected weighing device that sends live weight into the app via Bluetooth.
Density
A material property linking weight and length. Set on material types when your workflow uses weight to estimate length.
Data Quality
Report checks (admins) that flag missing weights, lengths, pricing, or other incomplete records.
QR / NFC Scan
Ways to identify an item from a label during Check Out or Return instead of searching manually.
Admin / Employee
Admins manage company settings, users, and Reports. Employees handle day-to-day receive, inventory, and checkout tasks.
Common issues
I do not know which term to use
Use Material Type for what the stock is, and Warehouse for where it is stored.
Starting Weight and Starting Length sound similar
Starting Weight is measured in weight units (lb, kg). Starting Length is measured in length units (ft, in) when your process tracks spool length.
